Go to menu top I never heard anything better than a Fender if we’re talking about the big manufacturers. Later on, in the Guitar section, I’ll also talk about Standel and EchoSonic , but they’re produced in such small numbers that it’s fair to say they’ll only have historic interest to the most of us So As long as you get a tube Fender you’ll probably be on the right track, because they all sound pretty good. It doesn’t have to be vintage at all, but they do look pretty cool. Actually I started out playing a vintage Vox AC 30 and it wasn’t bad at all. The sound was very ‘tube’ and that’s what you’re looking for, but Fender is still the better choice for Rockabilly. Fender Bassman ’59 reissue Many Rockabilly guitarists play a ’59 Fender Bassman or similar – vintage or reissue. It sounds perfect for rockabilly. The distortion which is where you get the right sound from changes dramatically with change of volume. That’s very impractically when you play live, where you have to adjust the volume after the size and acoustics of the place where you playing.

I love my solid state amp, but it looks like a toy compared to this tank. It seems to sound best with my single coil strat GFS Premium pups. I can definately get some quack and spank out of it that you could never get with SS. I was afraid it would be too much amp for me since I am a living room hobbiest. It is definately loud, but sounds good at lower levels.
It has all that round rich tube sound I have been gassing for!

Sep 04, · A great amp, and an incredible value. Strong points: clean channel; 15inch speaker pushes a lot of air. Weak points: reverb is kinda thin, and the tremolo cuts the volume. Very prone to failures when moved alot due to the way Peavey connects the three PCB’s together with small gauge bus wires. A number of owners wish this had been made.

Who is john legend dating now Peavey amp serial number dating Hi folks, I’ve just been re-united with an old Peavey amp that I used to own. I’ve used the search function on the Peavey site, but it came up “no results”. I think they do about watts though into lowest ohms load. I’ve been told by a somewhat unreliable source, that it’s over thirty years old, and that it was previously owned by the bass player of the Stiff Little Fingers.
Up came 8 or 9 results; I picked the one with ” “. Let me know if you ever want to replace the speaker and I’ll check out what would give you the most oomph for the watts. This amp is a life saver and as previously mentioned, the sound coming out of it is fantastic. Greenboy, I’m near sure the Stiff Little Fingers and age boast were a simple marketing device used by a “friend of a friend”, to try and hurry my money along a few years ago Also note that the current Sheffield line available includes woofers sometimes several in 15, 12, 10, and 6.

Conclusion The Vypyr Series was born out of Peavey’s attempt to compete with the Line6 Spider Series and take a bite out of the modeling amplifier market. Today we will review the Vypyr Could the viper beat the spider? Back in the 90’s, Peavey was one of the leading manufacturers in the solid-state guitar amp market thanks to its Transtube technology, which simulated tube sound more or less successfully.
With this background, and considering that modeling amps are currently very trendy, it’s natural for the US manufacturer to try to jump into this business. In fact, Line6 was the first to launch its Spider Amp Series and their numerous preamp simulations and effects, then Vox followed suite with its Valvetronic models. Peavey now tackles this growing and tightly competitive market.
